Attempt at Final Halloween Painting

Basically I have given up on this after several hours of trying different styles, designs, positions and completely different creatures I have stopped. I am too frustrated to carry on with this so I am simply going to upload my final sketch. Pretty much everything about it is wrong but here you go, I tried but failed.

Halloween Sketches

Well they may not be the best sketches but I personally quite liked the overall sort of style. I found myself getting overly obsessed with heads of creatures and not a lot on the whole creature. I do quite like the sketches and I think from these I have a good base to start from for my final piece.

Halloween Mood Board

Yes I know it is a little late, but I completely forgot to upload this, thought I already had oops.
A lot of the images on here are from silent hill and I think this is the sort of style I want to go for. Some sort of twisted demonic freaky looking creature :D

Tree Final and Development

After much tribulation and and work the images below are  my final trees with character. The reason for there being two versions is down to the fact that I changed my mind on my final design half way through and then changed it back again.

Originally I was going for the idea that a dying tree was stretching out into the sunlight and all of the parts of the tree in the light are blossoming, but the sections of the tree out of the light remain dead. I then changed this as time went on as I was struggling to create a good enough background for the concept. After a while I eventually created the landscape scene, with a more picturesque feeling. And then after that I decided to have another go at my original idea and eventually came out with a relatively good piece. I am happy with both of these and feel they are my best pieces to date.

Also included are some images throughout the development and painting of my final tree scenes.

Tree WITH Character, NOT Tree Character concepts.

Okay, well after properly reading the brief and realising that it stated that we were to create a tree scene with character instead of a tree character I stopped what I was doing and started again. From the top down are my concepts in order of being designed, hence why the first is a collection of tree character silhouettes.

The last of the designs is the main concept for my final idea. This will be painting in full colour to show the idea better. The idea behind the scene is that the tree is dying and has stretched out towards the only sunlight it was find. The parts of the tree within the sunlight are healthy and have blossomed while the sections of the tree outside of the light are dry and dead.

Tree Project Mood Board / Inspiration

The next installment in our string of projects is to create another digital painting but this time based on some form of tree or tree like creature. Below is my mood board with all of my reference images I will be using for inspiration. I don't have a solid idea as of yet but I think I want to go down the route of some form of horror styled tree, whether it be a tree set in place that appears scary or whether it is a tree with legs capable of moving on its own accord.

Surreal Final

This is my final surreal painting, it is inspired by Mario Bros. 3 on the NES. This painting was quite rushed by I quite like to overall outcome. This is the first painting I have used textures on for a while but the main reason for this was that I found my self struggling to create a detailed effect on the potato.

Surreal Sketches

After my mood board I threw together a few rough sketches in photoshop to try out a few ideas that came to mind. These are very rough and basic sketches as I was only trying to get a basic idea of the ideas on paper.

Surrealism Mood Board

For our next project we have been set to create some form of surreal piece of digital artwork. Below is my mood board that I have put together for reference.

After doing a little bit of reserach I have decided that I want to base my piece on some form of surreal video game character. I think I want to achieve this my using everyday objects to represent a well known character. Hopefully my sketches will help to develop on this idea.

Final Robot Digital Painting

After finishing my conceptual sketches I chose to paint one of the designs. I used the paper sketch as a template to base my final version upon. I have made quite a few changes here and there from the original sketch.

This character does have a slight back story behind him. He is supposed to be a very early model of a robot that was never perfected and so he went insane and became the first mass murdering robot. In my painting he is wearing the leg of some alien creature on his head as a hat as he as recently disembowelled the creature, hence why he is covered in blood.

Robot Sketches and Concepts

After completing my mood board I threw together a few sketches that could be used as a concept for my final robot design. I am happy with the outcome of a few of the sketches while I am not entirely pleased with some of them as they are quite rushed and I wasn't really sure what to draw. For this project I have found it quite difficult to find inspiration for robotic creatures I wanted to draw.

Robot Mood Board

We have been set another assignment to create some form of robotic creature. As before the first step is to create some form of mood board for inspiration. Below is my collection of images that I put together for inspiration. I have marked a few of the images as I like these ones best. I want to overall to create some form of organic looking robot.

Tentacle Final Piece

After completing my concept sketches I have gone on to further one of my ideas and have turned it into a complete digital painting. I feel that by far this is my best piece to date and am very happy with its outcome.

Tentacle Themed Sketches

After creating the mood board we had to do a couple of sketches inspired by tentacles, in preparation for our concept sketches of our final tentacle inspired piece. Below are close ups of the 6 sketches I completed as well as a picture of the whole page with the sketches laid out.

We have been given a new assignment to create a piece of digital artwork inspired by tentacles. The first step in this process is to create a mood board of images to correlate ideas and inspiration.
